Aquarium algae: a diagnosis plan

Instead of searching for one miracle product, organise lighting, nutrients and maintenance.

Collect data

Record the photoperiod, water-change dates, feeding, fertilisation and parameters. Photograph the same area every few days.

Address causes and symptoms

Manual removal reduces algae mass, but the cause also needs attention: excess light, instability, accumulated waste or poor flow.

Make small adjustments

Change one factor at a time. Abruptly cutting light, adding large chemical doses and rebuilding filtration together makes results hard to interpret.

Important: Adapt actions to the species, equipment instructions and actual measurements. For signs of illness, consult a veterinarian experienced with aquatic animals.
